You will likely not know you have fatty liver unless you have had blood tests or imaging done, this is why fatty liver disease is dangerous.
I know this because I see patients all of the time with fatty liver disease who don’t take it seriously when I recommend they kick the soda pop, refined flours, and added sugars to the curb.
Sometimes it’s a result of alcohol abuse but most of the time it’s a result of eating too many processed foods.
You don’t have to be morbidly obese to have fatty liver this is another reason why fatty liver is dangerous.
Plenty of people who have normal body composition but poor food choices have fatty livers.
If you have been consuming alcohol consistently or eating processed foods, fast food, soda pop, bagels, croissants, pastries, white chocolate mochas, candy, white bread and pasta, doughnuts, cheap supplements, food colorings, artificial sweeteners, processed meats like hot dogs, sausage, deli meat multiple times per week then you’ll want to get your liver enzymes checked, along with your GGT enzyme to see where you are at on the fatty liver spectrum.
You can also focus your food routine around meat, vegetables, fruit, nuts, seeds, beans, sprouted grains and avoid fatty liver and the end result of liver cirrhosis, liver failure, and early death.
